How to Make Homemade Strawberry Basil Syrup

There is beauty in adding a homemade touch to your daily coffee. Whether it's a morning coffee or an afternoon iced matcha, a homemade flavored syrup can bring a little joy and freshness to your usual sip.

At the shops, we've been leaning into all of the spring vibes with fresh fruit, floral accents and flavors that taste like sunshine. So we thought it’d be fun to take that energy into the kitchen and show you how to make your own Homemade Strawberry Basil Syrup

This house made syrup is surprisingly easy to whip up and pairs beautifully with lattes, tea, sparkling water, and even desserts. And while you’re here, we’re also sharing four more coffee syrup recipes that are just as dream and even easier to make than you might think!

How to Make Homemade Strawberry Basil Syrup 🍓🌿

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup water

  • 4–5 fresh basil leaves

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Combine 1 cup of strawberries, 1/2 a cup of sugar 1/2 a cup of and water into a small sauce pan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Add in 4-5 fresh basil leaves and stir.

Step 3: Pour in 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla extract for added depth.

Step 4: Strain the syrup into a clean jar or bottle using a fine mesh strainer. Discard the solids.

Step 5: Let the syrup cool completely before storing it in the fridge. It will keep for up to two weeks. Enjoy!

Recipe 2: Vanilla Bean Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 vanilla bean (split) or 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1: Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Add in the split vanilla bean or 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and stir.

Step 3: Let the vanilla steep in the syrup for 10–15 minutes off the heat.

Step 4: Strain the syrup (if using a vanilla bean) into a clean jar or bottle.

Step 5: Let the syrup cool completely before storing it in the fridge. It will keep for up to two weeks. Enjoy!

 



Recipe 3: Salted Caramel Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar

  • ¼ cup water (for caramelizing)

  • ¾ cup warm water (to finish)

  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions:

Step 1: Add 1 cup of sugar and ¼ cup of water to a small saucepan. Heat over medium without stirring until it turns a deep amber color.

Step 2: Carefully pour in ¾ cup of warm water (it may bubble) and stir until smooth.

Step 3: Add ½ teaspoon of sea salt and stir until dissolved.

Step 4: Let the syrup cool slightly, then pour into a clean jar or bottle.

Step 5: Store in the fridge for up to two weeks. Enjoy!

 



Recipe 4: Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Instructions:

Step 1: Combine 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.

Step 2: Add in 2 cinnamon sticks and stir.

Step 3: Let the cinnamon steep in the syrup for 10–15 minutes off the heat.

Step 4: Strain into a clean jar or bottle and discard the cinnamon sticks.

Step 5: Let cool completely before storing in the fridge. Keeps for up to two weeks. Enjoy!

 



Recipe 5: Blueberry Lavender Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup water

  • 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender

Instructions:

Step 1: Combine 1 cup of blueberries, ½ cup of sugar, and ½ cup of water in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 2: Add in 1 tablespoon of dried lavender and stir.

Step 3: Let steep for 10–15 minutes off the heat.

Step 4: Strain the syrup into a clean jar or bottle using a fine mesh strainer. Discard the solids.

Step 5: Let cool completely before storing in the fridge. Enjoy within two weeks!
